In 2024, the BMFTR commissioned Prognos AG and Fraunhofer ISI to evaluate the achievement of objectives, impact, and cost-effectiveness of the second funding round of the joint federal-state funding initiative "Innovative Hochschule". The results have been available in the form of the final report since July 2026.

What remains after "Innovative University"? Under this banner, stakeholders from the regional IHS network convened in Berlin in April 2026 for a World Café.

The one-minute social media video clip documents the interdisciplinary project meeting for the further development of the Neffy breathing robot, which was originally developed at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Technology (BHT) and is now being advanced in collaboration with students and researchers from three additional universities, as well as on-site with the practice partner Pflege & Wohnen Sunpark.

At the Off-ICMC in Hamburg-Harburg, the IHS project LIGETI captivated approximately 400 visitors in mid-May with current research in computer-assisted music — featuring interactive performances and an international Science Slam.

The "Creative Bureaucracy Townhall Saxony", hosted by the IHS project 4transfer in Dresden, generated significant momentum. Through lectures, workshops, and panel discussions, more than 200 participants explored innovative approaches to public governance, with one administrative project receiving the audience award.

In February 2026, apprentices from Omexom and MAKS, alongside students from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences (HSRW), jointly undertook the challenge of constructing a hydrogen-powered excavator. The makeathon, organised as part of the IHS project TransRegInt, demonstrates how knowledge transfer can be successfully integrated into academic teaching.

At the thematic evening on endometriosis and adenomyosis held at Coburg University of Applied Sciences, scientific findings converged with artistic perspectives and personal testimonies. The panel discussion demonstrated how knowledge transfer can be achieved through dialogue, visibility, and authentic engagement.

The University of Technology Chemnitz is seeking institutions, individuals and ideas to help shape the Part-Wiss conferences, which will take place between 2027 and 2029. The aim is to establish networks and strengthen participation in science. The initiative will combine research with practical experience and generate new momentum.

The Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE), together with Geisenheim University (HGU), conducted an online survey of experts in the region.

For the 2027 Peer Review Panel election, the German Research Foundation (DFG) invites research institutions that are not members of the DFG to apply for other voting seats: this explicitly includes universities of applied sciences (UAS). The deadline for applications is 31 July 2026.
