Successful Inaugural Edition of the Creative Bureaucracy Townhall Saxony Date: , Theme: 4transfer
The "Creative Bureaucracy Townhall Saxony", hosted by the IHS project 4transfer in Dresden, generated significant momentum. Through lectures, workshops, and panel discussions, more than 200 participants explored innovative approaches to public governance, with one administrative project receiving the audience award.
The inaugural Creative Bureaucracy Townhall Saxony took place in March 2026 at the Kraftwerk Mitte venue in Dresden. The event aimed to bring the spirit of the Berlin Creative Bureaucracy Festival to Saxony. In this context, "creative bureaucracy" denotes above all a fundamental shift in institutional culture from a "No, because" to a "Yes, if" orientation within public administration an approach emphasised by urban researcher Charles Landry, co-founder of the Berlin Creative Bureaucracy Festival, in his keynote address.
The event was opened by Saxon Minister-President Michael Kretschmer via video message, followed by a welcoming address from Saxon Minister of Justice Prof. Constanze Geiert. In addition to pitching sessions and the awards ceremony, the programme featured numerous keynote presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and interactive formats, illuminating key facets of administrative transformation — from questions of a new error culture through to service innovation and AI use-case development. At the awards ceremony, the project "Johanngeorgenstadt'54" prevailed over competing entries and convinced the jury, whilst the audience voted "H34 Café Ellefeld" as the recipient of the audience award.
