At the Transferale, the various transfer formats and topics of the ‘Zukunft findet Stadt’ partnership were presented and there were numerous opportunities to talk to the scientists involved. In discussions, presentations and hands-on activities, the team from the five universities and three practice partners introduced visitors to the challenges in the areas of climate, care and resilience and presented a wide range of solutions.

Cooling workwear for hot spells

In the field of care, a real-life laboratory is investigating how artificial intelligence and robots can be used to communicate with people in need of care in order to maintain their cognitive abilities and create a pleasant social environment. Cooling work clothing is being tested for outpatient care to make work easier during hot spells. The topic of resilience is also very important in the care sector. According to scientific studies, there is a high risk of nursing students developing burnout symptoms before completing their studies. Art therapy programmes were developed and implemented to give those affected the opportunity and means to express and deal with their personal challenges.

Another project presented its simulation techniques with VR glasses and an app for urban development. This makes it possible, for example, to depict changes in temperature or precipitation behaviour, greening measures or traffic routing. This can be used for dialogue processes with citizens or for decision-making by politicians.

In another project, possible changes due to climate change were discussed with children and young people and their wishes and ideas were developed, discussed and formulated. The Glasbox carers invited visitors to try out their skills on 3D printers and embroidery and sewing machines. The Glasbox is an open workshop that offers space for exchanging ideas on the topics of climate protection, health and sustainability.

The wide range of activities on offer gave visitors a deep insight into the innovative solutions and transfer formats of ‘Zukunft findet Stadt’.
